Roger Teen Mode (ages 13 to 17): Information for Parents and Guardians
Agreement version 2026-11-teen-4. Print or save this page for your records. We keep no record of your agreement.
What Roger is
Roger is an AI peer-support and life-coaching-style companion on PeerSupportAI.com. It offers listening, encouragement, self-help ideas and job-interview practice.
What Roger is not
Not therapy, counseling, diagnosis, medical care or a crisis service, and not equivalent to therapy.
Not delivered or supervised under any clinician's license, and not a way to sign up for any counseling services.
Not for children under 13. Under-13 visitors are blocked and directed to FeelingsHelper Kids.
Not offered to or through schools.
Privacy
No account, no name, no email, no location. Chats are not saved; a refresh erases the conversation.
Identifying details are scrubbed and health specifics made general in the browser and again on the server before AI processing. This pattern-based filter can miss details: please do not share names, schools, addresses or medical records.
Because nothing is stored, there is no chat record to request later, for you or anyone else.
Conversation, consent, birth information, initials, settings and temporary summaries last only for this page visit. Refreshing clears them; there is no parent dashboard or saved agreement record.
PeerSupportAI does not use chats to train or fine-tune AI. An external AI provider processes scrubbed messages under its own terms; this is not a blanket guarantee about provider retention or training.
Safety
No human reads the chat. Roger cannot make reports, call anyone or contact you.
A licensed counselor or doctor has professional duties to act when someone is in danger; Roger is an AI with no such duties and no way to act, so if your teen is unsafe, involve a trusted adult or professional directly. See Can Roger warn someone or report what I say?
If your teen describes being hurt or abused, Roger shows the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline, 1-800-422-4453 (call or text, 24/7), and encourages talking to a trusted adult. For immediate danger, call 911. For emotional crisis, call or text 988.
Everyday topics such as friendships, crushes, texting nerves, rejection and making friends get real, age-appropriate help. Roger never flirts with anyone, uses pet names, role-plays a partner or produces sexual content, at any age.
Roger will not give diet or weight-loss advice, advice about getting alcohol, vapes or drugs, help getting around parental controls, or encouragement to keep secrets from parents.
Online safety: if a teen describes an online contact asking to meet, asking for photos or asking for secrecy, Roger names these as warning signs, encourages telling a trusted adult and opens Crisis Resources. If private photos were shared without consent, Roger advises not forwarding them, reporting them, and using NCMEC's Take It Down. Loot-box or in-game spending is discussed without judgment and honestly compared to gambling.
Questions about bodies, puberty or sex get a calm, judgment-free answer that curiosity is normal, with no anatomy or sex explanations; Roger points teens to a parent or trusted adult, the school nurse or counselor, or their doctor, and holds that boundary if they push.
Safety handoffs and chat closure
The Crisis Resources popup opens for detected crisis, abuse, violence, substance harm or relapse, and gambling loss of control. Opening help and closing the chat are separate safeguards. After safety guidance, Roger closes the chat for this visit for current suicidal thoughts or plans, current or recent self-harm, possible overdose or dangerous mixing, threats to hurt someone, current intoxication, or chasing betting losses. A teen explicitly saying they are unsafe receives an immediate trusted-adult and Childhelp handoff. After a safety close the page locks for that visit: the earlier conversation is erased from the screen and memory, only Roger's final safety message remains, the message box and other controls are removed, and only Crisis Resources stay available. Present danger from another person, such as someone threatening or trying to break in now, also closes the chat after Roger gives 911 steps. Automated checks can miss or misread a situation; do not wait for Roger to recognize danger.
Age-appropriate content and breaks
All modes use a minor-safe content floor: no graphic harm detail, sexual or romantic content, substance how-to, betting tips or risky dieting advice. Risky topics are risks-only, with no promotion of benefits even under repeated pushback. Teen Mode limits suggested FeelingsHelper pages to teen-suitable self-help, not therapy. Adaptive listening, Coaching and Job Interview practice remain available within these boundaries.
Break check-ins come every 10 teen messages or after 30 minutes of chatting, with off-screen ideas such as friends, family, a counselor, outdoor time or a sensory break. A once-per-visit note between 11pm and 5am on the device clock suggests sleep. These are optional reminders, not enforced time limits, and are deferred during safety help. Break check-ins remind teens that Roger is an AI, not a person or a friend who remembers them. There is no feed, autoplay, streak system or notifications.
What this agreement does not prove
Parent or guardian co-consent is self-attested. Initials and checkboxes do not verify age or identity, and no record is retained as proof. COPPA-aware, FERPA-aware and HIPAA-aligned describe design intentions, not legal certification or a guarantee of compliance. Roger is not offered through schools or clinical sessions. A parent agreement does not make Roger therapy or a substitute for human support.
Your role
We encourage you to talk with your teen about how they use Roger and to stay their first trusted adult. Roger is meant to point them back toward people like you.
